Beginnings and Acquisition

In 1992, Cabano Marine entered a new chapter when Pierre Lagacé acquired the company. Already a well-known boat dealership in the Témiscouata region, it was ready for transformation. Taking over from Jacques Labrecque, Mr. Lagacé set out to expand and modernize the business. With experience as the former owner of a Ford dealership in Rivière-du-Loup, he introduced bold changes. By 1994, he had quadrupled the size of the facilities, adding new services such as boat repairs and custom canvas work. A large service garage and a spacious indoor showroom were also built, offering customers a comfortable shopping experience year-round.

Family Growth in Témiscouata

In 1997, Pierre’s sons, Martin and Robert, joined him, turning Cabano Marine into a true family venture. Their passion for boating and determination allowed the company to capture a larger share of the market. By participating in numerous boat shows, they successfully expanded Cabano Marine’s reputation across Quebec and into New Brunswick.

In 2009, Pierre Lagacé retired, handing the reins over to his sons. Open to new opportunities and market trends, Martin and Robert focused on growth. In 2011, they acquired Dubé et Frères, giving them access to a 40,000 sq. ft. showroom—the largest boat showroom in Eastern Quebec. Customers could now browse through an impressive selection of over 100 new and pre-owned boats all year long.

A New Location in Tracadie

The company expanded again in 2014 with the opening of a new branch in Tracadie, New Brunswick. Already well established in the Maritime provinces, Cabano Marine continued to strengthen its presence thanks to a passionate and dedicated team. In 2019, Alexandre Godin joined Martin Lagacé in leadership. Bringing expertise in information technologies and a strong interest in emerging trends, Alexandre infused the company with fresh energy. His approach emphasizes close collaboration with employees and building valuable partnerships with suppliers.

Acquisition of BLyacht

In 2020, Cabano Marine took a giant leap forward with the acquisition of BLyacht, located on Champlain Boulevard in Quebec City. This expansion firmly positioned the company as one of the largest boat dealerships in Canada. With an indoor showroom capable of displaying 15 boats, a large retail store for parts and accessories, and a state-of-the-art service workshop, Cabano Marine now offered a complete boating experience. This strategic investment allowed the company to serve customers not only in Quebec City but also in the Beauce, Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Côte-Nord, and Mauricie regions.
